What can you do?

What will the police do?
The police will:
- Protect
a victim and any children from further risk and gather evidence where a
crime has been committed.
- When
certain crimes have been committed, such as serious assaults and breaches of
Non-molestation orders they will arrest offenders.
- In all
cases where an offence has been reported, police will investigate the
incident and where appropriate bring offenders to Court.
- After
an incident, the Domestic Violence Officer will make contact with the victim
via letter, telephone, and/or a visit.
What can the Domestic
Violence Officer do?
Provides support,
information and guidance to all victims on:
- Police
procedure and the investigation process.
- Court
Orders for protection - and how they can be obtained.
- available
Support agencies, both voluntary and statutory.
